Drone Journalism as an Innovative Component of Modern Media Education in Ukraine
Abstract
The aim of the research consists in developing an algorithm for the integration of drone journalism into the educational programs of higher education institutions.
Research methodology. Document analysis, systemic-structural analysis of current educational-professional programs and curricula for training specialists in the specialty «Journalism» in Ukrainian and foreign universities were applied. A heuristic method was used based on the analysis of personal pedagogical experience of teaching drone journalism and working with drone piloting schools.
Results. On the basis of the developed model for implementing the discipline into media education (based on the technical-operational, security-legal, and ethical-communicational fundamental blocks), an algorithm for the systemic integration of drone journalism into the educational process of higher education institutions was developed. The algorithm includes six consecutive stages: normative-legal audit and conceptualization; infrastructure development and resource provision; educational program design; regulation of security protocols; pilot implementation and approbation of teaching methods; evaluation and quality monitoring.
Novelty. An algorithm for the implementation of drone journalism into the educational process of higher education institutions is proposed. The critical importance of maintaining an architectonic balance during the implementation of the algorithm for integrating drone journalism into media education is proven, in order to prevent the deformation of professional competence and the transformation of a journalist into a narrow-profile UAV operator.
The practical significance of the research consists in the possibility of using the obtained results during the development of innovative courses on drone journalism in higher education institutions, protocols of psychological resilience of students during work with traumatic visual material.
Key words: drone journalism, media education, unmanned aerial vehicles, educational innovations, training of media specialists.
